I think you have just scratched the surface. One way I’ve seen print used with social is by integrating a share function. i.e. A QR/Tag/Watermark, etc next to a product in your catalog or mailer that immediately links to your FB page to showcase your new or intended purchase.
Also, using Twitter/FB to alert your followers to an upcoming, exclusive offer in their mailbox.
What about mobile commerce? Receiving your mail piece, seeing a product you like, and ordering it directly from you mobile device using a QR, etc….
